About
Our Story
This foundation was born out of love, loss, and the desire to make a lasting difference. After the passing of Michael J. Kuzdzal, someone who struggled silently with their mental health, we came face to face with the painful reality so many young people face today: the feeling of being overwhelmed, unseen, and unsupported.
We lost someone who was a bright light dimmed too soon. In our grief, we made a promise: to speak up where silence once lived, and to act where help was missing.
The MJK Foundation exists to honor that promise.
Our mission is to empower mentors with the knowledge, tools, and support necessary to effectively guide and nurture the mental health of adolescents. Through comprehensive education and training, we aim to equip mentors with the skills to recognize, understand, and address the unique emotional and psychological needs of young people.
We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and that no family should suffer in silence. This is a crisis that affects all of us—our children, our schools, our neighborhoods—and it’s time we come together to be part of the solution.
We are still at the beginning of this journey, but we carry it forward with passion, purpose, and the memory of a life that continues to inspire us.
